World War Z

World War Z

World War Z

The opening scene sets temple well and this is sure for an interesting ride.

The film has a look that we know and love from other titles and the trailer points at story lines we can guess at.

What will be critical in World War Z is how it all hangs together and what will set this movie as a seminal work.

The genre is one which is still building a huge fan base, and I don’t think many people saw this coming with Brad Pitt as the star.

Worlds Away 3d is coming and looks like being a true spectacle.

Worlds Away 3d

For fans of Cirque du Soleil and James Cameron, it will definitely be an artistic piece that will create new fans. What will be interesting is how the immersive visceral theatrics transfer to the silver screen.

We have seen some of the latest holographics and we think Worlds Away in that medium would be even more mesmerising.

Opening on 21 December 2012 – http://www.worldsaway3d.com/ – showcases elements which have been discussed by the members of the Sharing Our Solutions showcases and summits and we can’t wait to see what has been created.

Skyfall – James Bond

Skyfall James Bond

Skyfall James Bond

Bond’s loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.

Skyfall is the upcoming twenty-third spy film in the Eon Productions James Bond series, produced for MGM, Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Entertainment.

For a twist it premiers in London, October 26th and in the US November 9th.

This is a great example of pre promotion and there is a lot of anticipation after the last few bond films.

The look of the film and the tone are very on point.

We have tickets to see the film at Imax available to VIPs care of  Fresh And On Point and Simon X

We can’t wait till the public release of The Super Spy – which remains under wraps publically but is extremely interesting

If you like this you should also check out Shibumi  and for martial training if you’ve been inspired.. Master Martial Arts and Master Tai Chi

The Book of Eli

The Book of Eli is a 2010 American post-apocalyptic action film directed by the Hughes brothers, written by Gary Whitta, and starring Denzel Washington, Gary Oldman, Mila Kunis, Ray Stevenson and Jennifer Beals.

The movie came out and left many people blown away.

The vision of the future is very stark, and probably closer to one truth than many would like to consider. It clearly draws on several films from the past – mad max, many from the world of Asian cinema, and yet it has a very unique feel.

Denzel Washington remains in our view a real master of his craft and someone who we know is getting better and better.

For the would be film maker it highlights several key points.

The mind is more important than the reality.

A lot of the story of Book of Eli comes from the audience, the soundtrack, the look of the film, the editing and the production.

This is a movie that we urge you to watch (just don’t be in a scared mood before you do), and several of the key points will make you jump and raise your tension. Notice how they do this.

Also how “known” elements in a new context open up a whole new perception.

Total Recall

Total Recall – 2012 – Review

Total Recall

Total Recall

An interesting premise, a world with limited viable space, the idea of The Fall – a trans global though centre of the earth travel – and vision of the future has the seeds of a great movie.

Rekall.. where you can implant memories… What would you like… A spy perhaps?

The police crash in and the following scene is one of the best in our opinion.

The question of what is reality is a key one.

The opening sequence where our hero looks out onto the future world is usually impressive. A multi dimensional multi layered warren of housing and living space.

The scenes remind of many Sci Fi films, but this is no bad thing.

Add to this magnetic cars and a world filled with mag lev (magnetic levitation), and throw in the display glass of Minority Report and Day of Glass (Corning) ( see YouTube and be blown away ).

The catches:

Obvious plot glitches …. Why doesn’t the toxic air spread everywhere? Why doesn’t she just kill him when he’s asleep? Why would the prime minister also lead his own army with massive risk? What happens next? Was it all just a dream… ?

Overall:

It was a fun movie to watch for the boys night out. The chase scenes, the industrial spaces, and the not too serious dialogue. You may jump in parts. Enjoy.

P.s.
This is not the Total Recall of our child hood…

Visual: 7/10
Plot: 6/10
Script: 6/10
Fun: 7/10

Note:

Total Recall is a 2012 American science fiction action film remake of the 1990 film of the same name, in turn loosely based on the 1966 short story “We Can Remember It for You Wholesale” by Philip K. Dick. Unlike the original film and short story, the plot does not include a trip to Mars[4] and exhibits more political overtones. The film blends Western and Eastern influences, most notably in the settings and dominant populations of the two nation states in the story: the United Federation of Britain, and the Colony.
